JEWELLERY CARE

LOOKING AFTER YOUR STAFFA JEWELLERY

In order to prolong the finish and appearance of your Staffa Jewellery:

Store your jewellery separately, so it doesn’t rub & scratch against each other, ideally in the packaging provided or in a ziplock bag to reduce tarnish from oxidisation. Damp and hot conditions will also cause jewellery to tarnish.

Remove jewellery when undertaking physical activities such as exercising, swimming, cleaning or gardening. Do not wear your jewellery overnight.

Perfume and cosmetic products can react and cause silver to tarnish. Apply your hair or skin products before you put on your jewellery.

OXIDISED SILVER

A piece of blackened or oxidized silver is true sterling silver, but it’s surface has been intentionally darkened by a sulphide which speeds up the natural tarnishing process. Although this patina isn’t permanent, it will wear beautifully.  The wear over time will become unique to you since it reflects how you’ve worn it throughout your life.  We can happily re-patina any piece of jewellery you purchase from us free of charge should you wish.

HOW TO CLEAN STAFFA JEWELLERY

A soft brush (an old toothbrush is ideal) with washing-up liquid is best for all pieces. On the silver (not oxidised) pieces you can also use an abrasive kitchen pad to return the piece to a satin finish. We do not recommend the use of silver dip solution.
